I suggested a prop bet for bodog.com where you would be able to bet on which PS3 launch title would sell the best. Apparently, this got picked up by a few sites. The first is Gizmodo, the next is Kotaku and finally, the coolest for me; it got a mention in GAMESPOT. I'm feeling good about myself right now. Too bad I can't get my name mentioned in any of the articles. I just realized I might want to link to the prop bet so here it is

Well, the deposit’s paid and the cheques have been signed. It's official, I move out at the end of October. I'm moving to a house that I previously dismissed because I thought the bedrooms were too small. But, after being able to look at my possessions, I was able to determine that I could feasibly fit my bed and computer desk into my room with a few other things. It's strange; this is the first time I'll be moving away from my family and I don't feel any apprehension. I thought it would be a real gut churner, but I feel fine. I don't know if that means it hasn't hit me yet, or if I'm so sick of living with my family that this move is seen as relief. Either way, I'm feeling pretty calm about it. The one thing I am worried about is moving certain possessions of mine. Like my TV, as that bastard weighs a ton, and I'm not fond of the thought of dismantling and reassembling my desk, but what are ya gonna do? I should be able to borrow my sisters SUV for the move, so that should help things quite a bit. Breaking the news of this to my Mother and Nonna was pretty heartbreaking. Neither of them wants me to move out. A promise to visit regularly seemed to help a bit. I'll still be coming over to do certain things around the house that two elderly women would have a hard time doing (like take out the garbage). Though, I acted as a buffer between them on many occasions and my moving out will mean that they'll have to deal with each other more directly from now on. I'm interested in seeing how that turns out. Of course, if it doesn't I know I'll hear about it every day. Hopefully the move goes smoothly. I'm looking around my room right now and I realize that I have quite a bit of stuff. Luckily my TV and gaming consoles will be going in the living room, so I don't have to worry about it. Speaking of TV in the living room, I'm thinking of doing a movie or game night once a week where friends can come over. Since I now live in an area accessible by sky train, people can actually visit me (YAY!). I'll just need to come up with an idea that should please a vast majority of people (I task myself with the impossible!). Well, that's it for now. More news as it becomes available.
Well, today was just interesting enough for me to actually write about. Now, this doesn't happen often but, I think today is special enough. Today started out pretty average. I woke up late, rushed to get out of the door so I could get to work on time. I got into Vancouver around 8:30am and parked my car at the corner of Alberni and Denman and walked to work; which is at the bottom of Seymour. So then I worked for 8 or so hours (as people are wont to do) and decided to head home. Right now I'm betting you're saying to yourself; "Wow, the day's almost done and he hasn't done anything of note. What the hell is he posting about?" Well, I'm getting to it, there needs to be some damn exposition here. You need to see how mundane my life truly is to understand the gravity of the upcoming event. I mean Jesus Christ! Who are you to judge? You can't let me get my literary groove on? No! You have to hurry me along so we can get to the climax of this story all for you. Well, did you ever think about me?! Maybe I want a little verbal foreplay. Get the juices flowing as it were! Anyway, where was I? Oh yes. So I walk back to my car and start heading home. (Rant begin: By the way, there really needs to be a stoplight at the corner of Alberni and Denman. People are frickin' douche bags and won't let you in. You practically have to get out of your car and beat the crap outta the other drivers just so you can get out of the city! Rant end) I get on the bridge and the traffic seems to be flowing smoothly. I get my car up to about 70kph when all of a sudden the car in front of me comes to a dead stop. So I slam my brakes and come to within a centimetre of hitting him. Just as he starts to move I get a flash in my mind, I'm thinking "Crap, I'm about to be rear ended, aren't I." and just then WHAM! Right up the tailpipe. After a few seconds, when the initial shock passed, I started to move my car slowly forward; making sure the person that hit me is following. We pull over at the off ramp and exchange information. She's a pretty nice lady, she was shaken by the incident, but otherwise seemed fine. I was really surprised to learn that there was more damage to her car than mine. She hit me pretty hard and my bumper wasn't even dented (save for the dent that I put there myself). After getting her info (except for the make and model of her car, cause I don't think I'll be filing a claim anyway) I headed home. Now that I've been at home for a bit, I'm starting to notice little pains in my back, neck and hands. I hope it doesn't get bad, cause I'm really not interested in going after this woman. So that was my day, weak start, strong finish. Ciao

I'm drunk, and posting. I only post to entertain people cause I'm just that kinda guy. Not a lot of people have seen me drunk... And for good reason. I'm not exactly the articulate, well spoken human being I normally am when I'm drunk.
So, I'm working from 8am-4:30 pm mon-fri for the forseeable future. If anything awesome is happening durring my off hours, let me know.
Keep on rockin' the free world! Thu, Mar. 9th, 2006, 11:02 pm Metal Gear
I was on a Metal Gear kick. And now you can be too... Enjoy These cause I sure did.
So, I've decided to take a little look at my life. My main question was; If my life was a novel, would it be an interesting read? And I came to the conclusion that no, no it would not. So I've decided to embellish the events in my life so that people will be captivated and awed and want to give me money. Okay, so about a week or two ago I caught a thief at my place of work (Future Shop for those not in the know), here's how it went down: It was a cold and unforgiving night. The rain was coming down hard, like nature was trying to wash clean the face of the earth. I was patrolling my area as ordered to by the higher ups. I knew of the wrath that would be visited upon me if I were to break from my patrol, so I made damn sure to stay on course while keeping an eye peeled for anyone that might be considered a threat. I'd been on patrol for hours and the exhaustion was staring to get to me. I knew I had to keep going as the fate of an entire company rested on my broad, chiseled shoulders. I noticed a man walk into my zone that made me take notice. This man was a behemoth, so tall he'd have to duck to walk under the lions gate bridge. So muscular that he'd make the most 'roided out athlete hang his head in shame. But I think the one item that made me truly take notice was the six-foot long broadsword attached to his back. I approached this behemoth of a man with cautious trepidation. I asked him what his business was in my territory. He assured me that his intentions were noble and having no proof to the contrary I allowed him in, making sure to keep a close watch on his activities. Because of my vigilant study of this new threat, I failed to notice another intruder that had encroached in my territory. However, I was pleasantly surprised when this new possible threat showed knowledge in protocol and approached me for assistance. I was able to point him in the right direction, which would lead him back out of my territory. While engaged with this other person, my exceptional hearing picked up something strange coming from the direction of the behemoth. Realizing that I had allowed myself to be distracted, I raced back to my post hoping that I could stop what ever might be taking place. Reaching my post, I found a strange calm. It was the kind of calm you might witness just before the flash of a nuclear bomb. I asked the behemoth if he had noticed anything strange, and in a deep gravely timbre that could only be described as the voice of unspeakable evil, he told me that he hadn't witnessed anything out of the ordinary. It didn't take me much imagination to see that he was lying, so I continued my surveillance. As I watched him even more intently my uncanny vision noticed a small bead of sweat trace it's way down the side of his face and shortly after, he began to exit my area. I followed at a distance, making sure to not raise his suspicion. I watched as he passed through our gates, and as he did, he set off a wailing alarm, the chase was on. I sprinted towards him, trying to close in on him before he noticed me, but it was too late. He charged away, his massive legs carrying him at a speed that almost matched mine. He ducked in and out of shops, using any obstruction he could to slow my pursuit. I was able to deftly dodge many and break through others. After what seemed like an eternity chasing him, I finally had him. He was cornered Breathing heavily from the chase and the adrenaline surging through my veins, I demanded the return what he had took. His muscles tensed as he answered my order by drawing the large sword from his back. Knowing I had no weapon to match his but the skills I had learned from many masters of the martial arts, I readied myself for the onslaught. He lunged forward with the sword raised, I jumped just in time to see the sword split the earth where I had been standing. I came down with a clenched fist that connected with his thick skull and made him stagger backwards slightly. Seeing this, I knew that I could hurt him and pressed my attack. Once more the sword cut through the air but I was able to duck quickly enough to avoid it. Unfortunately, I didn't account for the shock wave that followed it and was knocked back several feet. He lunged forward once again with his sword raised high. I immediately dodge to one side as the sword cleaved the ground. As he tried to raise the sword from the ground, I took the momentary lull in his attack to land several powerful blows on his head. It was enough to cause his massive hands to release the sword. I kicked him with as much force as I could muster and was able to force him back a few steps. Seeing my opening, I charged forward with my next and final attack. I moved as fast as my legs would allow clenched my fists and leapt into the air, I came down with both of my fists on the top of the behemoths head and watched him crumple to the ground. Dragging his unconscious body back to a holding area, I informed my bosses about what had happened and left the rest up for them to decide. I returned to my post a little sore, but ready to complete my tour. So there you have it. I hope it left you captivated and awed. And hey if it made you want to give me money, don't let me stop you...
Tue, Feb. 21st, 2006, 02:02 am I'm evil
I found out a friend of mine from work has an old LJ account. I'm trying to get her to come back. Her LJ nickname is mippo. Go bug her til she comes back. It's either this or I have to get a myspace account and annoy her there.
I was shown this by my friends Mike and Jon at work and think it rules. I shall now share the awesomeness... Prepare for the Ultimate Showdown. Hope you like it as much as I did.
I'm officially done with night shifts. What I thought was going to last until January 10th is actually over as of the end of my shift at 6:30 this morning. Good-bye odd sleep schedule, hello social life. I don't have much of my schedule, I do know that I'm working boxing day from 5am until 1:30pm. I'm gonna see if I can get my weekends off, cause I'm sick of working when everyone else isn't. Booya!
I went to the Barenaked Ladies concert last night. I went with my friends Jon, Mike and Mikes' family. They were kind enough to let me buy a ticket off them. BNL are incredible showmen. They kept me entertained throught the entire concert. Unfortunately, they didn't play all the songs I wanted to hear, but the fun made up for it. They even had a local childrens choir that sang a few songs with the band, which was super cute. Sarah McLachlan made an appearance for a few songs, it was neat. This marks the first concert I've been to that centered around a single band. Hopefully I can go to more in the future.
Fri, Dec. 16th, 2005, 07:19 am Madness!
I just got home from work and I was quite shocked by what I saw. 20+ people lined up outside my store. You see, word got out that we had some Xbox 360s to sell today (about 56 that was whittled down to 40 cause people got special treatment). Some of the people had been lined up since 11pm last night. I'm quite surprised. The turnout is actually better than it was on the launch day back on November 22. And I can only hope that it goes better than that debacle. The hypocrisy in the store staggers me. I talked to some of the customers outside. I mostly got pleas to allow them into the store early (Which I couldn't do anyway). It was an interesting collection of people. From young kids around 14 to an elderly lady around, I dunno, ancient. I don't think my grandmother would stand in line at 6 in the morning to get me a video game system. All in all, it was a good night and fun was had by all. In other exciting news. I bought 2 pairs of jeans today. Now, I know this sounds quite mundane, but that's before I mention that these are the first pair of jeans I've owned in over a decade. Doesn't that blow your mind? Is your mind now not completely blown? Incidentally, along this line, I found out I've gone down another pant size. Go me and junk. I bought them and three shirts while I was out shopping with my friend Mike, whom I've known since grade 5 and is like a brother. He's in town and a little pissed at my work schedule. It's hard to find time to spend with him while he's over here from Victoria. I'm trying to plan something for this Saturday, but I can't think of a damn thing to do. He wants to go to a Canucks game, but I'm not sure if I'll have the money for that. Hope I can think of something. My life isn't as fascinating to read as it is to live. Believe you me. I bought the Sin City Extended Cut and Mario Kart for the DS the other day. I've yet to watch the movie, cause I hate watching movies alone (same reason I have yet to watch Batman Begins and Saved). The game however, is god. The single players is pretty classic Mario Kart, you can even race on tracks from every other Mario Kart game. But the multiplayer! Holy crap is that addictive. Jon bought the Mario Kart DS bundle and we race each other on our break. We've convinced several other people to buy a DS with the game cause you can play up to 8 players. I have yet to try the online play, but I'm sure it's a blast. Speaking of Jon. His father sent him a Star Wars risk set for Christmas. We can't wait to play it, we just need to schedule a game. It will be all kinds of fun I am sure. I'm also relatively sure it won't break down into the near fist fights the other risk games we've played have gone to. I am geek, hear me roar! Then wheeze, hack, cough and reach for my inhaler. There that should catch everyone up with all the meaningful events in my life as of late. Or maybe not, I am indeed an enigma.
Sat, Nov. 26th, 2005, 07:54 am Dr. Tran!

Video Games Live was amazing. Andrew, I cannot thank you enough for getting the tickets. I really wish you could have come (Damn you Metric! Damn you to Hades). Jon and I had a blast. I got to meet and talk to both Tommy Tallarico and Victor Lucas (Hosts of Electric Playground). And I got to hear some of my favourite pieces of video game music played by a live orchestra. It was a full on nerdgasm. I was able to get my ticket autographed by Tommy, Vic and the Composer. Next time they come into town (And they will), I'm gonna drag you kicking and screaming to it, Andrew.
